An Absence of Blessings

Originally posted April 4, 2006

I am admittedly not in a very bloggy mood right now...have been in a meeting half the day and just chowed on half a carton of ice cream (low-fat, low-calorie, however). But I thought I'd write a quick entry on how I've been noticing that more and more lately, people don't say "bless you" when someone sneezes anymore.

I know it sounds like a trivial thing...maybe I'm just a stickler for manners. But I can't help blurting out "bless you" when I hear a sneeze, even if I don't know the person. Yet, someone can sneeze here in the office, and no one will say anything. I find that silence awkward.

I don't know why this gets me, it just does. Sneeze and bless-you go together like peanut butter and jelly! Like sock and shoe! Like cookies 'n' cream! Like....like....like gin and tonic! You can't break them up!

Blah, like I said, not very bloggy today. But I've been noticing this trend and just wondering why people are forgoing simple manners. A lot of people don't say "thank you" anymore either, but that's another blog, I guess.

Well, back to my post-ice cream coma.
