Weekend

'Twas a great weekend. Friday night I got to see the next installment of Star Wars, "The Empire Strikes Back." Thoroughly enjoyed it. I see why this Star Wars thing is so popular.
Saturday we ran a bunch of errands, then came home so I could shower and get ready to head to the city for Stephanie's b-day fest. We had a rockin' time at Asia SF, where I'm always reminded of the city's unique quirkiness. I mean, you can't go to Des Moines, Iowa, and expect to be served by a transsexual. The food was excellent, as usual, and the shows were entertaining. Even more entertaining was our group....a little too much fun with our dessert. Heh.
After that, we hit up the bar downstairs and danced until 1:30....they played some great music, we loved the bartenders (same ones that were there when we did Beth's bachelorette party), and we couldn't stop chuckling at the guy dancing like an epileptic dinosaur. I seriously hope he was on something, because if not.....eek. Ryan was still awake when I got home, snuggled in our bed watching TV. Too cute.
Yesterday was so nice out that we decided to take the motorcycle for a ride. This time I was smart and wore my snowboarding leggings under my jeans to keep from getting too cold. It worked! I had no idea where Ryan was going, so first we ended up at Alice's restaurant, a famous local meeting spot for bikers, near La Honda, I think. We checked out some cool old Nortons and Triumphs...there was even some weird 1929 thing ridden by a guy in vintage gear. From there we took off to Pescadero, where we stopped for gas, and then down to Half Moon Bay, where we had lunch/snacks at a coffee shop. We were going to try to make it down to Santa Cruz, but had to leave from HMB to make it in time for dinner at my mom's. It was gorgeous out.
Riding is peaceful. I get to sit and look at nature pass me by while I think. Sometimes I bring music, but it's such a pain to shove my earbuds in through my helmet, so I skipped it yesterday. But it's nice to have quiet time while on the bike and just think about things that have had my mind in a jumble. It was beautiful yesterday, and I love watching the shadows at different parts of the day. I think my favorite times of day for riding have been in the early morning (despite the cold) and late afternoon (despite being tired). You really can't beat motorcycling.
I need a new helmet, though. The one I have lets in air around the visor, and it's really annoying and loud. I have to wear sunglasses so that the air doesn't dry out my contacts, and sometimes it's uncomfortable, not to mention cold. So, at some point I will be getting a better lid.
Also, why don't they make heated helmets? I came up with an idea for a heated helmet that doesn't use chemicals or electricity...just a series of strategically placed "bladders" and hot water. I think it would work! I think it's an even better idea than the Tweel (and look, someone already made that!). Seriously, someone needs to give me a grant for inventions.
Well, anyway, it was a good weekend. Hope yours was good too!
